Clinical activities

My clinical work centres on the care of severe, treatment-resistant and complex psychiatric presentations, within the adult psychiatry department of Lille University Hospital.
It follows a specialised, transdiagnostic approach at the interface between clinical psychiatry and neuroscience, addressing situations characterised by non-response to standard treatments, protracted course, or complex and overlapping symptom presentations.
Objective clinical psychiatry
Particular attention is given to developing an objective clinical psychiatry, grounded in rigorous descriptive semiology, standardised assessment instruments, and longitudinal analysis of clinical trajectories. This approach is an essential prerequisite for the meaningful use of clinical neuroscience methods and for individualising treatment strategies, notably within translational research programmes such as CALYPSO.
Treatment-resistant and complex presentations
My clinical work addresses the assessment and management of treatment-resistant and clinically complex psychiatric disorders, including comorbid conditions, psychiatric or otherwise. It falls more specifically within the field of mood and psychotic disorders, considered in their severe, mixed or atypical forms, notably through specialised programmes such as DEMHETER.
Catatonia
Specific attention is given to the study of catatonia, a psychomotor syndrome that is frequently underdiagnosed, heterogeneous in presentation, and capable of threatening functional or vital prognosis.
Physical treatments
Finally, a central place is given to physical treatments — in particular electroconvulsive therapy and neuromodulation techniques — understood as major therapeutic tools in severe or treatment-resistant forms, and integrated into a broader clinical approach aimed at better targeting treatments and better predicting the course of psychiatric disorders.
Clinical programmes and projects
- DEMHETER — assessment programme for mood disorders and their treatments.
- CALYPSO — research programme devoted to the objective measurement of psychiatric symptoms using computational methods.
- Catatonia — resources on catatonic syndrome and the building of a clinical network.
- CONN-ECT — a project to structure and connect specialised catatonia centres across France.
